72Compelling, easy to read book chapter writing with information consistency helps your book or ebook sell well.
Do you get stuck trying to create a focus for your chapters that will deliver your unique and useful message? Do you say to yourself, "How do I write a book chapter?"
Book Chapter Writing Techniques That Sell
Format each chapter in your book with consistency and focus to compel your reader to want to read every chapter because they are easy to understand. Provoke and engage your readers in throughout your chapter, not just in the beginning. In your chapter's middle, answer their challenges and problems.
Most writers begin writing before they have figured out a clear main focus or thesis. The thesis is your book's overall answer for a problem your reader has. "Five Ways to Market Your Book Online" has its answer/thesis woven into the title - always a plus. You know by the title you'll learn five online marketing techniques to overcome your problem of not selling enough books.
Before you write any chapter, make each chapter title its own thesis that also answers a part of your whole book's thesis and message. For the title "Five Ways to Market Your Book Online" you will have five chapters and five thesis that all have to do with the book's overall main message and focus.
For example, "Market your Book Through Free Articles."
For another, "Market your Book with Your Own Ezine."
How to Write a Book Outline
In each chapter you need to sketch out and be writing book ideas for what your format will be before you write a single word.
1. For example, you may begin the chapter with a hook like a pertinent quote. "Articles Marketing is the #1 Way to Promote your Books and Services Online."
You may open with a few thought-provoking questions or shocking facts that relate to where your audience is now. "Is business slower than you want?" "Does your marketing work?" Or, you may even start with a short story or analogy. Any opening needs to hook your reader and encourage them to read on. They won't finish the chapter unless they are engaged throughout.
2. Second, follow the short hook introduction with the thesis and message of that chapter. Simply let your readers know the benefits that await them in each chapter to get them to keep reading.
3. Third, you will offer a section (the middle) where you provide tips, stories, how to's, check lists, and other resources. For instance the heading of, "How to Write a Short Article," or "How to Write an Article that Publishers Love."
Sprinkled throughout your chapter you may place specialized tips, quotes, and information that stands out to the reader. But don't add random quotes just because you're attached to them - they need to actually support the chapter and it's message.
4. In the final section of your chapter you may want to write a simple chapter review or give homework for the reader. Somthing like... "Three Take Away Ideas" or "Action Steps."
To brand yourself and your business, use a key word that relates to your book, perhaps from the title. For example, "Passion at Any Age" used "Passion Hot Lines" for chapter tips.
To end your chapter with a bang, you need to sum up a bit what the reader bot, followed by a final sentence or two in the last paragraph that tauts the benefits of the coming chapter. Now, your reader can't resist reading on and discovering more useful information.
Remember, your targeted audience wants tangible and accessible solutions to problems. Each chapter in your book should show them how they can reach their needs.
You can now use the book chapter writing formatting for your first how-to chapter of your non-fiction work as a template for all the following chapters!
